Direct instruction is an efficient and traditional teaching model that allows students to master the learning content by maximizing academic study time. The basic concepts and methods of direct instruction are well understood and used. As the name implies, it divides the teaching content into multiple images that are easy for people to understand and teach by dividing the team and taking the process. After teaching a certain amount of content each time, students need to respond to questions based on what they have learned in a short time.

The teaching mode of direct instruction is contrary to Constructivism or discovery learning, which emphasizes the ability and interest of students to solve problems actively. As for our topic-critical thinking, Constructivism would be more appropriately applied to the actual teaching process because the process of critical thinking is divergent and has solid subjective thinking.

In terms of critical thinking, the structure of direct instruction seems to be a framework that limits students’ open-minded thinking patterns. Cooperative Learning is a teaching model we agree is the most suitable for our topic, discussed by our team member Dennis because such a teaching model emphasizes the interaction and communication of students with each other during the learning process.
